Fleming has destroyed the main computer and fled, Prof. Dawney is caught and is whisked away to the middle eastern country Azaran where a company called Intel is designing a computer from information given to them by Bridger ( See Series One ). Fleming is rescued and is ordered by his boss, Geers, to show him where Andromeda had died. on doing so they find Andromeda not dead as first thought, but barely alive clinging to a rock, as she went into the water she was sucked into another pool via an underground tunnel. Both Fleming and Andromeda go back to the launch but leave without Geers. Soon after they're kidnapped by Intel and taken to Azaran and join Dawney. Intel will trade anything to anybody and any country, as long as a fat profit is made. Their agent, Kaufman obtained a copy of the program from Bridger before he died.
Intel persuade Fleming, Andromeda and Dawney to work on their computer they have built. Outside in the world, the weather is becoming more unstable and erratic, flash floods, hurricanes and violent storms crop up all over the planet, the reason soon becomes apparent.
The original computer on Thorness Island discharged chemicals and toxic enzymes into the sea via it's cooling system and these had spread and multiplied, absorbing Nitrogen and dropping air pressure, the chemicals were also reducing the Earth's oxygen levels. Intel force Andromeda to design a better missile system that she designed for the British on Thorness, Dawney realizes that Andromeda is slowly dying  due to a chemical imbalance.
Intel get the scientists to develop an antidote to the ever increasing violent weather, but will only sell on their terms. Before they can sell it, a counter revolution by the former ruler of Azaran overthrows the rebels and Intel. As the world's weather calms down, Fleming and Dawney work on a formula to save Andromeda which brings her back to health. Andromeda shows Fleming via a computer monitor, which planet the original signals came form, the beings that sent them are lifeless creatures buried in the Earths soil. Andromeda explains the signals were actually a warning to other civilizations if the wrong path was taken, the computer was there to actually help mankind. Fleming is still sceptical but decides in the end to actually help mankind with the computer and with Andromeda's help.
